Secular Student Alliance Week 2013

I became involved in secular activism over a decade ago when I started a Secular Student Alliance chapter at my college. I later ran for and got elected to their Board of Directors and ended up chairing that board for several years. If I hadn’t gotten involved with them, I don’t think I would ever have started this website (or written any books).

The year I got involved with the SSA, we had under 50 college affiliates across the country. As I write this, there are around 400 chapters, including nearly 70 at the high school level. A number of campuses even run their own free conferences.

It’s just a staggering amount of growth in such a short time and we have to keep it going while the momentum is on our side.

Today marks the beginning of SSA Week 2013:

Even if you were never involved with a campus group, your donations will help all of those young atheists who think they’re the only ones who don’t believe in God at their schools.

And to top it off, any donations you make this week (including today) will be doubled thanks to a matching offer from Jeff Hawkins and Janet Strauss.

This is a no-brainer. Of all the groups I donate to, this is the one I prioritize. Helping students now means helping the entire movement in the future.

Please consider giving something to the Secular Student Alliance. You’ll be happy you did it.
