Atheist Bible Sticker Challenge! June 29, 2012

Atheist Bible Sticker Challenge!

Remember The American Bible Challenge, the Bible trivia game show? Now the producers have created promotional stickers!

With all the positive buzz surrounding the show, we’re excited to introduce to you our new campaign that will allow people from all across America to show their support — it’s called “Bible Stickers USA.”

With Bible Stickers USA, you can get a FREE set of American Bible Challenge stickers, stick them in creative places around your home and neighborhood, and share pictures of the stickers with fans all across the country.

Getting started is easy:
First, go to our website to request a sticker pack.
Once you receive your stickers, we want to see the craziest, coolest, funnest place you can stick them (but make sure it’s a place where you won’t get in trouble).
Snap a picture of the sticker and upload it to our website — you can do this online, or by using our exclusive iPhone or Android app.
You’ll get to see your photo along with others from across the country on our interactive map, and we may also feature it on our Facebook page. We can’t wait to see our map fill up with your photos.

I think we should do our own sticker challenge. I’m calling The Atheist Bible Challenge!

  • Follow the instructions above to get your stickers.
  • When they arrive, cross out the word “American” and replace it with “Atheist.”
  • Take a picture with the sticker next to something that either references an immoral/nonsensical passage in the Bible (like a Jesus t-shirt made with multiple fibers) or something delightfully blasphemous (like people eating shrimp).
  • Be creative and have fun! The Bible has a wide range of weirdness to pull from and invites a multitude of ethical blasphemous behavior.
  • For bonus points, add the words, “We Dare You to Read Your Bible!”
  • Then email me the pictures at AtheistBibleChallenge at gmail dot com! I’ll compile a gallery of the most creative and entertaining pictures for all to enjoy.

Most Christians have never actually read the Bible, including those who consider themselves literalists. I challenge any Bible-Believing Christian to read the Bible front to back and tell me that they still literally believe every single word of it, from the Sons of God having sex with women of Earth in Genesis to the rules on slavery in Deuteronomy & Exodus to the genealogy of Jesus Joseph in the Gospels.

This is just one way to point out the passages in the Bible that so many Christians willfully or unknowingly avoid.

UPDATE (Aug. 22, 2012): I never got my stickers. I haven’t heard from anyone who has received their stickers. I emailed the GSN and never heard back. I think they were just teasing us with the whole thing.

  • I’ve tried to order from Canada. Let’s see what happens.

  • Kevin_Of_Bangor

    Done and Done….

I cannot wait to get my stickers…

I’m going to have so much fun with this.

  • Kevin_Of_Bangor

Rob if you cannot get them, let me know and I will mail some to you. You can send me an e-mail at atheist…..1970…. @… if you desire.

    Just remove the dots.

Hey! Let’s show our tolerance by bashing people who have different beliefs than us!

  • I know, right?

…oh wait. I thought you were an atheist talking about Christians in the U.S.

  • ortcutt

I’m always surprised how few literalist Christians bother to learn Greek and Hebrew. If I though a book was the inspired word of the creator and ruler of the universe, I would damn well want to read the real text and not a translation.

  • LesterBallard

Yeah, we bash ’em, we just don’t fucking oppress them.

  • ErickaMJohnson

Bashing? I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

Ah, horror of horrors, someone dares to MAKE FUN OF CHRISTIANS!  What kind of MONSTER could even contemplate such an atrocity?  It’s not like christians have spent centuries brutally murdering anyone who asked questions they found inconvenient, or fantasizing about watching their monstrous imaginary friend torture non-christians forever and ever.  No, no, mockery is infinitely worse than murder and torture!  Poor, poor, persecuted christians, not allowed to slaughter infidels with total impunity anymore!  What a pitiful fate.  Their faith is so weak it can’t possibly survive the slightest dissent.

  • here’s 2 ways i can think of rising to this “challenge”

    1) get your own sticker, stick it in your toilet… shit on it alot.
    2) get a phone book, send stickers to everyone in said phone book.

  • Grinch

So let me get this straight. You come on an atheist blog and then get offended when you realize that we find religions absolutely ridiculous and treat it as such?

…Methinks you should have put more thought into this.

  • Aundrea

Soooo, is nudity allowed in these photos? I’m sure I can slap one on the back of my husband’s hand before I leave for school in the evenings.

  • Spherical Basterd

To prove that their tiny insulated minds have regressed into infantalism they now expect eveyone to play Jesus Pokemon.

  • Kodie

Did anyone look at the map and see where the “craziest, coolest, funnest places” people are using the stickers? SO LAME. One is just laying on a desk with other paper. Christians really know how to rip it up. I will get some stickers but will I get more junk mail because I got stickers. ???

  • Kodie

They are not even sticking them on things!

  • Kulp8899

I challenge the idea that reading the Bible will challenge a fundamentalist’s faith. My wife is a fundamentalist (how did that happen?) who reads it cover to cover at least every year.  Somehow the problems just don’t sink in.  Remember that for everything we take issue with, there is an apologetic explanation that “explains” it.  That is good enough for her.

  • LesterBallard

    Yeah, what about “unequally yoked”?

  • ErickaMJohnson

Exactly, there’s an explanation for the crazy stuff. They don’t actually believe it, they have an “explanation” for it. Much of my extended family is like this.

  • ErickaMJohnson

I suspect the pictures they have up are from people close to the show and there up as examples.  They only just started this marketing campaign. I’ll be checking back in to see what they have posted in a week or so to see if there’s anything interesting.

  • ErickaMJohnson

Generally, I would say steer away from the NSFW category.

  • Sindigo

Or worse, someone’s interpretation of a translation.

  • Monkey

Why not send the pics back to the American Bible Challenge?  If anyone needs to see an actual photo of how immoral/nonsensical the Bible is it’s them, no?
