Matt Harding is best known for his YouTube videos in which he dances with people from around the world. He just released his latest one! Watch it and it’ll make your day that much better:

  • Wow. Just wow.
    Makes you realize how in the modern world ONE PERSON can connect to so many others… ‘in Matt’s case it’s via dancing with people in countries most of us will never dream of venturing to, and then blowing things TOTALLY off the scale via the internet, where he has truly millions of viewers.

    In the old days, hierarchy/armies/threats/etc were needed for those wanting to influence millions.

    Now, it can be done by a happy guy dancing in front of a camera.
    Simply awesome.

    The simple act of dancing shows how little difference there is between us all. However, I am very curious why everyone in Syria was blurred out.  I know there is some serous shit going on there right now. I wonder if it is related to that, or just a personal choice.

    I love Matt. I get emotional every time I watch one of his videos. I actually think he is one of the most talented artists of our time. 
    Yes, I mean that. His videos are art. 
    As far as his Humanism, I had guessed that by the fact that there are no “in your face” religious icons or themes anywhere. Was he christian (and that would have taken nothing out of the brilliance of his art) it would have been evident.

    Also, how on earth did he get into North Korea?!  Aren’t they very very suspicious of outside media–especially Americans?!

    I love this so much.  I’ve been wondering for a while if he was going to do a new one.  I know the music is manipulating me a little bit, but I can’t help but get a little emotional watching his videos.  We’re really not different and it breaks my heart we work so hard to find ways to paint other people as outsiders.

    It was amazing, seeing the hesitation of the crowd.  Should we like this? 

    Also I see it fitting that a woman was the only one to break the taboo.  Awesome!!

    Matt’s a humanist?  And?  Totally awesome video and the fact that he’s a humanist is totally irrelevant.  That’s almost as if somehow we’re supposed to be surprised?  I can’t help but imagine there are quite a few humanists out there capable of totally awesome things.  This would seem to support that theory.

  • You’re right.  I’m not ashamed to say that I got a little misty-eyed by the end of it. I found it rather nice that the USA was used as part of The World, actually. I do wonder what his connections are. I mean Poyongyang and an aircraft carrier on maneuvers?That’s more than just traveling.

    I watched it with sound off as to not disturb my spouse, and I still got teary-eyed. It wasn’t the music, it was the grins and the scenes of unabashed goofiness.

    I remember a few years back when the first of his dancing videos came out, and I had the same reaction to this one: tears of joy literally streaming down my face. I don’t recall anything that’s elicited the same emotion in the interim.

    All those people being so goofy and uninhibited, with all their imperfectly coordinated mass movement — it’s a beautiful affirmation of our common humanity.

    Also, more Port of Spain, Trinidad, please…

    This video made my day and as soon as I get myself some iTunes money I’m going to download that song. Never seen this guy before… off to watch the rest of his vids now! 🙂

    Matt’s video/website, back in 2005/2006 must have been one of the first places I was exposed to Humanism not as a dirty word (the way I learned it in church), but as an internal and abiding driver of how someone can view the world. I was surely an atheist in my heart before then, but Matt was the spark that made me realize that being a non-believer could be a Good Thing and not something to be ashamed of.

    love this video so much. it makes my feeling so relaxing and enjoying. the music really good combinations- every part of  the worlds dance cultures . it’s amazing, and good luck. looking forward what> next?
