    Nicely played!  Ha-Ha!  Even sadder is that this is the same logic expressed by every tornado or hurricane or natural disaster survivor.  “god (lower case g intentional) must have been looking out for us!”  Well, why did this god thing-a-ma-jig let the [natural disaster]’s path go right through a populated area?   Oh, yeah…I forgot…we can’t know how god thinks!  BWAAAA-HAAA-HAAAA!

    Why did the wife have to suffer for her husband’s inability to control his emotions?  What about the car the drunk driver actually did hit, because this guy’s car wasn’t there?

    To be honest, when Trayvon Martin’s mother was praising God that George Zimmerman had been arrested/charged with the murder of her son, and would be facing God’s justice … I felt the same way. If this is God’s plan, then you have to accept that God ordained Martin and Zimmerman’s paths to cross in the first place. Or if there was another agency (Satan!) guiding Zimmerman’s hand, then God wasn’t really paying attention to Trayvon at all.

     If Christianity preaches that we have “free will” and “free will” is a necessary ingredient for sin, why does God need to control all of the things we do and why does He know in advance what we will do and when we will do it if He can control everything and if he controls everything why does He let us sin and why doesn’t He make everything nice so we all can live a long time in harmony, etc? This is why I am an Atheist!! Christian Pastors have no answers, just cyclical arguments without reason.

    This demonstrates the logical acrobatics performed by christians to rationalize the fact that bad things happen to good people. They of course stop at the “prevented something worse from happening” because if they continued thinking about it, they would have to rationalize the “worse” occurrence as well. This also completely ignores the fact that an omnipotent all loving god could just directly intervene.
    Oh wait, god can’t be too obvious, can he? Just like the invisible gnomes in my underwear drawer that steal my socks, you know, the old “I know they’re there, but they can never be seen because that would make them too obvious” spiel.
    All of this leads up to a gigantic “there is no proof that god controls the world, and it can’t be proven wrong, but I’m going to believe it anyway in short bursts because it makes me feel good.”

  • As far as animated Christian cartoons go, Veggie Tales is probably the best made and most entertaining. The problem with a lot of the Christian children’s videos is that they use cheap animation that sometimes looks weird or scary and the stories are usually poor interpretations of the source material, and they’re just not entertaining.

    If  a god is in charge of this world—-what’s with 9/11 or WWII, or Viet Nam or Iraq or children dying because someone didn’t make if rain in some foreign country etc.   Sorry, I can’t do the “it’s God’s will bit”   IMO, no god would allow such suffering.

    Funny thing is, the concept of free will is relatively new and certainly not supported by the source material. God very specifically takes credit for Pharaoh refusing to let the slaves free, as well as takes credit for bad things which befall innocent people.

  • I thought I was the only one who was annoyed about that. She praises “JEE-SUH-SSS!” so proudly, but doesn’t at all realize that if God was really looking out for her family he wouldn’t have let her son get shot and killed and then have the murderer walk free.
