An Inspiring Video About Space

dogmaticCURE is back with a new inspiring video, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, about the history of space exploration:

Makes you want to look out into a telescope, doesn’t it?

I think I have a boner for Science.

  • This is a wonderful video.

I have three telescopes, one of which requires an 8-foot ladder to use.  I love setting up any of them in a public place and letting passers by view something in the night sky that makes their mouths fall open.  I don’t look at the sky; I watch their faces. Sometimes there appears a look on a kid’s or even an adult’s face, and when I see it, I’m so deeply gratified. That expression shows that their concept of the cramped space in which they thought they lived, a cell compressed by cynical ideas of scarcity and short-sighted prejudice has suddenly and vastly expanded, just as space-time did, and their minds fly out, expanding with it. Suddenly they are no longer a denizen of a narrow alley of impossibilities, but part of a universe of possibilities. Suddenly they have Wonder!
