Meh.  Maybe I just had a easy path to Atheism on this one, but I never had that feeling that God was a friend, or that we had a “relationship”.

Conversely, the absolute lack of any such relationship was one of the first things that got me thinking there wasn’t anyone there.

We would regularly hear the parable of the shepherd looking for the lost lamb and I would think, “Well, if I’m doubting that any of this is real, I’m a lost sheep and there certainly isn’t any shepherd finding me.”

I guess I’ve just always been the type to expect friends to be an active, not a passive part of my life, and God, for the obvious reason, was never active.

I wouldn’t call it obvious. Where we came from, the origins of the universe, beauty, love, life – despite science it’s still pretty awesome and mysterious, so it’s worth contemplating and seeking answers to. God may be real, like Christians (and others) believe, or he may not be. In my opinion, It’s not something you can authentically shrug off with a simple “Meh.”

  •  Actually it isn’t something you can authentically do anything with (other than treat it as nothing special) until evidence comes along.  Also, it is true that the obviousness of zero unambiguous god action would not be obvious to someone with deluded twisted evaluation.  Indoctrination can twist these nothings into positions of potency.
