Congrats, Damon! February 17, 2012

Congrats, Damon!

Guess who just found out he’s being awarded the American Humanist Association’s 2012 Humanist Pioneer Award?

Our friend Damon Fowler:

He’s well-deserving of the award — and he’s just one of many young activists over the past year standing up for his (lack of religious) beliefs despite the fact that it would be so much easier if he just kept his mouth shut about it.

These students are really showing up the rest of us… and we owe them a debt of gratitude for it.

  • ” He lives on Scripture Street?”

    Yeah, I LOL’d too.

Well deserved award. I made Damon my Person Of The Year for what he went through and the dignity and determination he showed throughout. (you’ll have to scroll down a fair bit).

Good for him. I’ve felt like he’d kind of been forgotten in light of the Cranston situation, so it’s good to see him getting some recognition. Wouldn’t want to think we abandon are own as soon as they’re no longer hot topics.

  • Congratulations Damon!

Yeah—that lousy Jessica Ahlquist was getting all the press. Let’s not forget Damon!

  • Well done Damon. I cant wait to see and hear all the positive coverage in the media or has the blackout already started.
