Thought the Mayan building there was a Dalek at first glance.
Oh, it’s gonna be fun. The Festival of Lies we otherwise call the election campaign, the endless parade of woo-woo from psychics, athletes, celebrities, politicians, self-described scientists, radio commentators, con artists, used car salesmen, and of course clergy on every topic ranging from the evils of homosexuality to the benefits of homeopathy, from the war in Afghanistan to the war on Christmas, from there is no global warming to we all face global destruction, all supported by “studies have shown,” “everybody knows that,” “I feel it in my heart,” “God said,” “God wants,” “God hates,” “God’s plan,” and God knows what other claim about a claim about a claim they pull out of their ass, every one of which just happens by complete coincidence to benefit them financially.
I just wish I didn’t have to until December 21 for the biggest laugh of the year. I’ll donate to a billboard campaign that goes up Dec. 22 that says, “So NOW will you let go of superstition?”
But I so want to believe! I just watched a show in the plague and kept thinking we could do with 50-75% less population! My town alone would be so much better off with less bible-thumpers!
I thought it was a Goa’uld Mother ship:)
As much as we want to pooh pooh these kind of predictions, I watched “Prophets of Doom” on the history channel, where 7 scientists predicted 7 different ways the world could and should end by the end of 2012. Compelling stuff. Curious what others think of it. It can be found on you tube and other places.
About the same time I looked up solar flares on NASA’s web site and found an article claiming the likelihood of a coronal mass ejection large enough to wipe us out could happen within the next year or so. Recently one almost that big happened, but it didn’t come straight towards us, but went off at an angle, so it didn’t affect us much. The article said that if one happens large enough and heads straight for us, we would only get about 9 minutes warning at best.
original article, maybe:http://www.nasa.gov/topics/solarsystem/features/spaceweather_hazard.html
the last mass coronal ejection:http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/sunearth/news/gallery/news060711-blast304.html
not much we could do in any case, but I am wondering… hey, it is NASA after all, not kook21 from Ancient Aliens website!
