Tiffany, a young leader in the secular community in Michigan, could use some help right now. Her mother has cancer but no health insurance. Tiffany is trying to raise money to help cover some medical costs and explains the situation here (PDF):

My mother has cancer. She is 500 miles away from me (Northern VA and I’m in Michigan) and I feel helpless and hopeless. The prognosis is 2-3 more years, but I fear it won’t be that long. It’s in her throat, her tongue, her mouth and spreading. She can barely speak, and all I can do is talk to her on the phone, rambling and telling her stories without a reply. I send her text message pictures of her grandson, and hope she smiles when she sees them. I will never hear her voice as I remembered it again.
…
I’m a realist, I’m rational, and I don’t expect a miracle. What I do want, more than anything, is this amazing caring woman who raised me to live out the rest of her life relatively pain free in safe surroundings.
