Nisus Writer is a word processor for Macs and a recent update introduced a new icon for tracking changes to a document over time:

  • It’s so iconic, it a shame it’s scientific bunk.

    It is, but it’s still easily recognizable.  And the people like us who realize it’s bunk don’t need the reminders that change-over-time is fact to be accepted.  Those who need reminders won’t care if it’s not quite accurate.

    They even programmed it so that if it detects that you’re a creationist, it limits the number of changes tracked so that you can only make microchanges to your document, since macrochanges are impossible.

  • And it also fits because usually when you write a rough draft of something, it looks like something that was written by a chimp 🙂

    Would’ve been better if the last part of that icon was some Eldritch Abomination, which is what most documents turn into over time.
