I liked this, it’s an expansion on that line “Religion should be treated like your genitals: don’t show it in public and don’t shove it down anyone’s throat.”

Thank you…..keep it to yourself.

I don’t think anyone should be able to bill themselves as a comedian without being, you know, *funny*. It was a decent rant and all, except that it seems he’s endorsing an end to the conversation that’s just beginning and trying to say that religion should “just be a private matter”, with which I disagree very strongly–religious beliefs affect many people very negatively, and pointing that out should not be considered nearly as rude and offensive to the human spirit as propping those beliefs up with silent assent.
If everyone “kept it to themselves” (and their children), we would only be sublimating the problem, not eliminating it…much like racism doesn’t disappear when people stop talking about it, religious excesses do not, either. I’ve seen with my own eyes some of the abuses religious people justify with their belief, and heard of much worse throughout history and right now in various places in Africa and the Middle East. The answer to these abuses isn’t to get the abusers to stay silent and take to the shadows in shame–it is to answer them as publicly as they preach, to increase speech, not decrease it.

Good analogy and all, but as a piercing nerd I’m cringing slightly at ‘cock ring’ and ‘the necklace it’s wearing’. Oh well at least he didn’t say ‘prince albert’

A cock ring and a genital piercing are not the same thing.

I don’t think that you are nit-picking. A cock ring and a piercing are completely different things. A cock ring is useful sometimes, whereas, a piercing is always useless.
