This is a guest post by Stef McGraw. Stef is a Junior at the University of Northern Iowa.
We’re taking over. That’s right, as Hemant mentioned in his post before going on vacation, several students will be blogging on Friendly Atheist this week in his absence. High school activist Jessica Ahlquist, the University of Northern Iowa Freethinkers and Inquirers (UNIFI), and some other campus groups from around the country will be giving Friendly Atheist readers a look at what the younger generation has to say about issues affecting secular students, as well as issues of religion at large.
That said, let me briefly introduce myself and my group. I’m Stef McGraw, the Director of Activities for UNIFI. Though the group has only been in existence for four years, we are very visible on campus through educational events such as Darwin Week and activism ones like Blasphemy Rights Day. We also strive to build a welcoming community for non-theists, and do so by hosting weekly Sunday brunches and other social events.
We will be linking back to contributors’ blogs throughout the week, and encourage you to check them out. For instance, we will maintain our regular blogging schedule with daily updates at www.unifreethought.com (shameless plug, I know…)
Hope you enjoy what our members—as well as Jessica and the members of other campus groups—have to contribute to the secular discussion this week!
