Hasa Diga Eebowai

If you haven’t heard the song “Hasa Diga Eebowai” from The Book of Mormon musical yet, set aside a few minutes and take a listen.

It’s exactly what you secretly wish people with miserable lives would say.

  • …wow.

  • Chris aka “Happy Cat”

This is the show that some Mormons say validates their faith? Apparently some of the faithful need to listen to the cast recording. Yikes.

Did the librettist have a quota for the number of AIDS references in this song? Double yikes.

Well, THAT certainly makes us look enlightened!

  • Brice Gilbert

    The entire soundtrack is amazing.

  • Meredith

I have my tickets for January!!! I can’t wait!

  • Erica

    That. Was. Awesome.

  • Claudia

    Wow…that was incredible.

Would signs and T-shirts saying “Hasa Diga Eebowai” be a good in-your-face expression on national prayer day, or would it just perpetuate the myth that we atheists actually DO believe in god, just that we are angry at him?

  • Alice

That made me laugh so hard. I need to see this musical.

  • I don’t hope this “secretly” at all- and you shouldn’t either.

  • TheRealistMom/Spamamander

Why shouldn’t we? If god makes the ‘good’ things happen, then he makes the ‘shitty’ things happen. Maybe then it would become clear that ‘he’ doesn’t exist… who wants to believe in a hateful god like that?

  • GregFromCos

@Peter – When I listened to the song I thought it was cute, but I have to agree that its not something I would wear on a shirt, because its not something I believe, and not something I’d say outside of an ironic jest, which is tough to get across on a T-Shirt.

    That was awesome.

Even minus the message, I love the music itself… I love african choral stuff, heh heh.

  • It gives me hope that this show won so many awards.

This was the first song I’ve heard from the show. Can’t wait to hear more!!! Thanks for sharing.

Here’s hoping this becomes the new fml.

I LOVE that from now on whenever someone interested in Mormonism tries to Google search “the Book of Mormon” they will come across THIS!

Those South Park geniuses actually scooped up the name of the mormon’s “holy” book!

I predict that at pro-secular/reason protests for years to come, there will often be one of us with a sign or T-shirt saying “Hasa Diga Eebowai”. It might be me. 🙂

This is an amazing parody of Hakuna Matata. Love it.

Saw the show today, amazingly funny. Loved all the songs, but this one especially.
