I love Pat. I posted this one on my facebook page. I doubt anyone will watch it or respond to it but that is besides the point.

  • Oh, yes. This. So hard. He said everything I’ve ever wanted to say and said it a thousand times better than I could ever have. This is getting bookmarked and hauled out at the slightest opportunity.

  • “…Sadly, it’s not yet possible to open the brain, cut out the mind, kill it, and display it in a glass case.” What an amazing piece of this beautiful rant.

  • He-he. I really like this video, especially the part where he says that you’re more likely to pray successfully if you believe you deserve for good things to happen to you, which would require giving up the guilt from religion. Thanks for posting!

    Love ya Pat!

it is seldom i disagree with Pat and this one of his better rants.

  • gwen

I totally disagree with this ‘rant’. It is a ‘blame the victim’ for his/her bad thoughts…an atheist version of that stupid book ‘The Secret’.

I can’t stand Pat Condell. I can agree with some things he says but for the most part he’s a bigot and a hypocrite who will side with the Christian right whenever he can.

I saw this last week on YT (I subscribe to Pat), but couldn’t resist watching it again when you posted on Facebook. He nails it totally. OTOH, it doesn’t hurt me at all if someone prays for me on their own time if it makes them feel better. Though, personally, I think if they spent the same amount of time actually doing, rather than pondering, the world would be a better place.

Excellent video. This is the first I’ve heard of him, but not the last, I think.

@gwen: So christians have no control over what they think? That’s pretty disrespectful toward them.

  • I liked his rant. My take: If you must pray, meditate instead.

I like this guy, but twice he mentions he’s going to hell and he’s fine with that. I don’t know him personally, but I am assuming he doesn’t really believe in hell, based on his videos, and that he’s making a joke. However, this really sends the wrong message to religious people. Atheists are not people who are fine with the idea of going to hell, we don’t believe a hell exists.

Where has he been a bigot?
    Hypocrite how?
He hasn’t sided with the Christian right “whenever he can.” I believe there was one of his videos where he posted a link to a right wing Christian site, but I think it was in the context of proving something else. I admit that I can’t remember the video in question, but it’s also been brought up elsewhere, where people seemingly misunderstood the link too. If you can point me to the video (or all the other times he has sided with the Christian right “whenever he can”) I’d be very grateful and might be able to find the explanation of why he linked it.

One of Pat’s best statements serves as a good response to those who call him racist and bigoted, etc.

Would you like a crash course in cultural sensitivity? Here it comes: Islam should get everything it demands. ALL criticism of it is racism. That’s it! You are now as culturally aware as you will ever need to be.

From The Taste of Multiculturalism, one of his best pieces. I don’t think it’s possible for his point to be any clearer.

Lorne R, whilst I don’t agree with everything Pat Condell says, and I think he’s way wrong about some things, ‘bigot’ is a very strong word, and shouldn’t be thrown around lightly. (Otherwise the word quickly becomes close to meaningless, and it makes a mockery of the suffering of those who have suffered due to actual bigotry.)

On YT, and relating to YT, it seems to me to have devolved into a word which basically means: someone who disagrees with me about people who have a specific set of beliefs. People then use said altered word as an ad hominem.

Are you sure you aren’t using it that way?

Have you got evidence that he is:

One who is strongly partial to one’s own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or race

    (Definitions for ‘bigot’ taken from

It’s just, although I have seen him often called a bigot, and have often myself disagreed with him on some subjects, I’ve never seen anything worthy of naming him as one.
