God Is Not Speaking to Glenn Beck

I haven’t seen too many episodes of Cenk Uygur‘s MSNBC show, but maybe I need to start watching. There are other media personalities who will call out Glenn Beck, but very few who do so on religious grounds:

All you have to do is claim that God spoke to you and you can say or do just about anything.

That goes for Beck, pastors, and everyday Christians. God is just used an excuse for saying whatever it is you’re already thinking.

You’ll never hear someone say, “I was against gay marriage, but God told me it was ok.”

We have to keep pointing out how crazy the God Excuse sounds. Maybe, at some point, they’ll start taking responsibility for their own thoughts and actions.

I’m starting to love MSNBC more and more.

  • You’ll never hear someone say, “I was against gay marriage, but God told me it was ok.”

Oh, you never know — you MIGHT hear it! ;-D

Cenk Uygur can be a little rough around the edges sometimes, but he’s never pulled a punch in his career. Check out his independent news show, online since 2002, at http://www.theyoungturks.com/.

Maybe god is speaking to him. You know how birds of a feather flock together.

Maybe god is speaking to him, Glen might be one of the only wankers out there that’s tuned into the same level of cosmic vibration. You just never know with that god fellow, he seems to have a few quirks.

  • I love The Young Turks. (In fact, I’m watching it right now.) I don’t usually watch the show on MSNBC, but I do watch the clips they put up on YouTube.

It’s an attempt to end the argument. “I think X” doesn’t sound as intimidating as “God thinks X”.

What A Portlander says. Also, after watching that episode the other day, I did a Google search and found this article he wrote a couple of years ago:

Everybody who says God speaks to them should be subject to immediate mental health scrutiny.

Cenk is a rational voice much needed in MSM.

  • Ah, Cenk.

    Rock on.

    No they won’t.

I mean yes, we have to keep pointing out how crazy they are, but they’ll just keep adding to it with increasingly bizarre messages from He Who Is Extremely Late, until their half-sane listeners finally walk away or go fully insane.

Someone write all this Beck prophecy down and once we get the distance of about 80-100 years when most people who are alive now and know he’s batshit are gone, we can release it as God’s revelation.

That formula worked with the bible…

    What Rich Wilson said.
He linked part two of Laurence O’Donnell’s Rewrite. This is part one. Smashing stuff.

    We need a godLESS network.

  • As a former New Mexican, I would totally watch CSI:Albuquerque. The fact god would be against it doesn’t weigh into it at all.

  • Steve

“In Plain Sight” isn’t CSI (it’s better), but it takes place in Albuquerque

  • So Glenn Beck is another one who thinks we’re in the ‘End Times’ is he? He seems to think that it’s imminent. So, care to put a date? Is it next week? Month? Year? Decade? Century? Huh?

As usual … Apocalypse or STFU!

  • I’ve been a fan of Cenk for years though The Young turks. They guy gets it, and never minces words. Nice to find a progressive with balls.
