Vote for Me in the 2011 Bloggies? February 3, 2011

Vote for Me in the 2011 Bloggies?

I’ll admit I don’t really know what the Bloggies are, but I’m nominated for “Best Weblog About Religion.” Fun!

Remember: If you go vote for me, Jesus will love you more.

Come to think of it, I don’t mind getting 4th out of the 5 nominees, as long as I beat Jen. That’s really all that matters.

Thanks in advance!

aww. sorry, I voted for Blag Hag.

  • Darwin’s Dagger

Me too. I’m thinking you’re going to generate a lot of votes for her. Kind of a reverse Pharyngulization.

  • Digitus Impudicus

Sorry, already voted for Jen. Her website loads faster.

  • Heidi

I voted for you, Hemant, despite the Jesus threat. 😛

  • Jonas

Ok Hement, It’s between you and Jen.
All you have to do is add a cooler word to the Lexicon than — ‘Boobquake’

  • Jen

    Testicle Cyclone?

    I win ;P

  • Oz Tilson

    she very wins- sorry Hemant

  • Oz Tilson

okay, my husband says that I have said your name more than hers in the last month. Thus you are more active and deserve the vote, so he is going on to vote for you

  • Drew M.

    Ooh. Tough choice.

Is it shallow to vote for the sexier one?

ETA: Wow, they consider Watts Up With That to be a science blog. This kind of taints the honor of receiving a Bloggie thingie.

  • of course Jen is going to win… the whole Atheist movement is having gender guilt for not supporting women for being better than men.

    One word: Feminazis.

They hate the fact that men are beating them, so they cry out inequality so that people will unfairly favor them.

  • I guarentee you none of these feminazis will be screaming inequality at the fact that the nominees for Best Canadian Blog are ALL women.

I’m not about to go through all the nominees for every category, but I’m betting there’s many categories that are entirely filled with women, but nobody says anything about inequality. Of course not… it’s only inequality if it favors men.

  • Ooh. Tough choice.

Is it shallow to vote for the sexier one?

No. Do that! And remember that I’m the sexy one.

  • dennis cobb

voted for you, as clearly its the best.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever seen Hemant comment so much in one of his own posts. I guess we know what is really important to him 😉

  • Jen

Larry Meredith can feel free to vote for Hemant. I don’t want the paranoid asshole vote.

  • JSug

    Testicle Cyclone?

Come on, you can do better than that:
    Testiclone.
    Erupticle.

  • Drew M.

No. Do that! And remember that I’m the sexy one.

I don’t vote ‘n’ tell. 😉 (Okay, actually, I voted for both of you.)

    Erupticle.

This week’s helpless fit of giggles has been sponsored by JSug.

  • Larry Meredith can feel free to vote for Hemant. I don’t want the paranoid asshole vote.

Explain how it’s paranoia. I’m not just making this up in my own heard.

Whenever I hear of an award for atheism going to a man I see a shitstorm of complaints that a woman didn’t get it. Equality doesn’t mean the women and the men are equally as good at everything. Equality means that neither man or woman should get favored because of their gender. Yet many feminists do clearly favor women over men.

Btw, I didn’t vote for either one of you.

  • anna nonymous

haha Jen, I wouldn’t want Larry’s vote either.

  • Brent

I think Larry Meredith just hates women because his last name is one typically given to a woman.

You need to learn to respect women, Mr. Meredith. They’re about equality, not misandry.

  • Tizzle

It’s so complicated to vote. Waah!

Also, I can’t decide. I’m leaning towards Hemant because this blog is solely religious in nature, whereas Jen seems to have a broader scope.

  • «bønez-brigade»

    Voted!

  • BeamStalk

I voted for Jen. Sorry* Hemant.

*By sorry I mean, not really and I am taunting you from a far.

  • Tough choice! Hemant has more atheist news and links and such, but Jen has a more personal voice in her posts.

You two should form some sort of super-blog together, and then we won’t be faced with these dilemmas!

In the end, I voted for Jen, because we live in the same city.

  • I think Larry Meredith just hates women because his last name is one typically given to a woman.

You need to learn to respect women, Mr. Meredith. They’re about equality, not misandry.

I’m all for equality. Favoring a woman over a man in a situation that involves nothing about sexuality is not equality.

Furthermore, women are more dominant in some things and vice versa. Most outspoken atheists are men, so it’s not surprising that not many women are getting recognized for it. That doesn’t mean women are being suppressed in the atheist community and it’s not sexism.

I see so many atheists who want the list of recognized atheists to be more diverse, which means some women are to be favored. Not because they are better than the men, but because they have a vagina. That is just patronizing and offensive to women. I believe in treating others the way I want to be treated, and I wouldn’t want to be condescendingly pandered to for being a man.

  • i adore Jen’s blog, but i think of it more as a science blog than a religion blog. it’s an odd choice for a competition like this one, even given how often she writes about atheism.
