To the Atheists in India…

The good people at Nirmukta, a freethought group in India, have been organizing meetups for Indian atheists in cities like Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai. This month, they’ll be holding meetings in Delhi and Chennai.

If you’re able to attend, all the information can be found here.

If you can’t attend but live in the country, consider checking out and their Facebook page which has information on future meetups.

“a freethought group in India” lol I do love how in your mind you must think atheist is synonymous with free thinking.

An entire website dedicated to a label that’s based on not believing in something. Is there also a Friendly Asanta? or Indian Asanta? We take not believing in Santa and the stories of Santa seriously.

  • Thanks for the shout-out, Hemant!

Note to everyone else: owing to the very heavy traffic on the Indian Atheists wesite in the past few hours, the site is down. We are working to put it back up as I write this. Cheers!

Do follow our facebook page for updates.

  • I lived for 5 years in Mumbai. It’s a wonderful country, but it is totally crippled by faith and divisions based on faith and dodgy preachers and superstition.

You’re doing some bloody good work bhai! Spread the message

Apparently Jesus may have lived for a while in India!

Good to see the coverage of countries other than the US, Hemant!

  • I’m always surprised that India is so dominated by superstition. All the Indians in America are smart, what happened to the ones left in the motherland?

  • DA

When whole countries are crippled by their different interpretations of Santa, you be sure and tell me.

India has a long tradition of atheism.

So much for that font. Try again.

I read that headline as “to the atheists in Indiana”, and i was like, what the heck is a group from Indiana doing sponsoring events in Mumbai?

That’ll teach me to read blogs before breakfast…

Oh dear. I hope you are influential, Indian atheists!

[…]what the heck is a group from Indiana doing sponsoring events in Mumbai?

Atheism is racist, dominated as it is by old white men; therefore, they are trying to reestablish the colonies. Didn’t you know that?
