An Effective Way to Protest the Pope

As Pope Benedict came through Barcelona, Spain today, about 200 protesters were ready for him

Good thing he was in the PopeMobile or else he would have caught The Gay.

    Fuck yeah! Love it!

  • It looks like a glass outhouse in the back of a miniature El Camino.

I wonder how long the Church will hold its stance on homosexuality? They most have a spread sheet at the Vatican or something: “Alright, if we lose 50,000 followers next week–we’re pulling the plug. We can always reinstate limbo.”

Vait Herr Driver… are ve at ze seminary already?

  • billybee

Too bad they didn’t form a 5 block long “daisy chain”. Old Benny and his crew might have parked and joined in.

Poor pro-choice activists: they didn’t make international headlines like the kissers did. Reproductive rights protesters aren’t nearly as sexy a story, lulz.

A group of about 100 feminists and “pro-choice” activists also staged a rally in central Barcelona.

One huge banner read: “We women don’t want you. Keep your rosaries off our ovaries.”

    Nicely done, guys.

Well if condoms cause AIDS then maybe the Dope Mobile will help him catch the RATIONALITY.

  • Cloud caption: “Disgusting! All over the age of 8! Yech! Driver, get me outa here, or pass me a barf bag!”

  • this is absolutely amazing. this is by far the funniest way to protest the pope!

  • Kaitlin

This just made my day 🙂

Bullet proof glass. ’cause, you know, God is all powerful except in that he can not stop bullets. Just don’t let the Catholics convert Neo.

  • The popemobile looks weird. Just saying.

  • The church in the picture in the article looks like it’s decaying.

    How apt.

  • The Bishop of Rome is now criticising the Spanish for being too secular and allowing gay people and women to have equal rights. Clearly equality is far from the plan that the Holy See has for people. Well Ratzinger is just going to get more of the same in Europe. He’s off to Croatia in the spring, San Marino in June and then back to Spain in August for some more snogging World Youth Day. The old fool just sets himself up for the jokes doesn’t he?

That’s the Sagrada Familia. Designed by Antonio Gaudi. That’s why it looks that way. It actually a mix of different styles and has some really unusual architectural elements for a church.

Silly Hemant, Ratzi already caught The Gay. He was afraid of catching the vigorous Positive Self-Esteem strain, which might out-compete the Closeted Homophobe strain he already has.

Why. The. Fuck. are people saluting this prick?

Head of State of the Vatican my ass. It’s all make-believe anyways.

  • Silent Service

I hadn’t noticed the saluting till you pointed it out. I was too busy envying the hot spanish guys making out.

  • Claudia

@Jp, those are either police or military officers. The pope is a visiting “dignitary” so they don’t have much of a choice in whether to salute him or not.

Mi enhorabuena a los manifestantes. Press reports here suggested that fewer people came to “greet” the pope than expected, with stretches of street pretty empty. In any case it’s a mistake to assume that everyone going to see the pope is a fan. I went to a pope led mass in St. Peters square, and you don’t get much less Catholic than me. It’s a spectacle, and people gather to watch spectacles if they’re free.

  • Would you believe that took me a minute? First thing I noticed was all the cameras in the air and I said what’s Hemant talking about? Then I looked closer and grinned.

Oh, yeah! Way to go, guys! Muy bien!

  • Lost Left Coaster

I really appreciate that the Pope cannot travel anywhere these days without being protested in one way or another.

People need to keep sending the message that he is not welcome.

  • Dmitri

Awesome! I wish I could’ve been there to participate!

  • Doug

Funny story: the first time I saw this picture posted here, all I noticed was the guy holding the rainbow bandana(?). Then I read a news story about it and came back and noticed all the guys making out. The title makes much more sense now.

Who’s the creepy pervert watching from the glass portaloo on the back of that car?
