Jessica Hagy combines Adult Attention with Danger for Kids and the result is…:

I know most people who served mass did so without incident, but it’s still amazing to me how anyone could defend the actions of the Catholic Church.

This issue hasn’t been in the news lately, their pedophile coverup shouldn’t be forgotten anytime soon.

It brings to mind this wonderful cartoon by Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle:

    @Epistaxis: No, not really. I mean, yea, they’re bad now, but that’s like comparing the plague to the cold. Violent fanaticism has mostly died out, and the Middle East thanks you. The South American natives do not. They are dead.

  • The prohibition against married clergy is to do with property and inheritance rights and not any kind of moral claim. Now that we don’t live under medieval laws it is time the restriction was lifted. While they’re at it they can change their policies regarding rapist priests and the law. The correct action is to involve the police and prosecute the offender as appropriate. As if anyone would have any doubt about that.

    That cartoon is so true. Before my first child was born, I thought I appreciated how caring and protective I was to children (nieces and nephews) but when I held my son for the first time I felt such a jolt of some hormone I knew I would protect that child no matter what. Other fathers I’ve talked to have felt it too whereas these “celibate” clergy will never get it. It’s their loss.

    This kind of makes it sound like you are saying Jessica Hagy is the one defending the Roman Catholic Church. I’m pretty sure that is the opposite of her intent.
