Westboro Baptist Church Got it Right…? June 3, 2010

Westboro Baptist Church Got it Right…?

I know Fred Phelps‘ Westboro Baptist Church says a lot of crazy shit about gay people, but for once, they actually got something right about you and me.

(Obviously, I’m not referring to the “Fags are Beasts” sign.)

Is that a prediction or a command?

Too late, in either case…

How did they know!?

(Thanks to Spencer for the pic!)

  • The Westboro Church people are such a disgrace and an abomination to humanity that I find it nearly impossible to laugh at anything they do, no matter how unintentionally funny others may think they are.

  • David

    I don’t get it???

  • Okay, I guess I’m dense, but I don’t see what you’re talking about. Who is eating babies?

  • KeithLM

Raytheist, atheists eat babies because we obviously have no morals since we are godless heathens.

  • bunnyslipperz

Raytheist, its tongue-in-cheek. That Atheists eat their babies so some Atheists joke around that we do, eat babies that is. 😉 Its totally in fun. Hope that explains it for you.

She looks so happy about the vile message she’s supporting. It’s scary.

For what it’s worth, I actually looked it up. Leviticus does actually say, more or less, that those who don’t follow God will eat their children.

    I only eat cake-shaped babies.

    No, not baby-shaped cakes.

  • David

Oh, no wonder I didn’t get it. I haven’t read the Bible since I was a kid. I prefer non-fiction.

  • In Soviet Russia babies eat atheists

  • Sandra

I eat jelly babies, like Dr. Who. And why is this person dragging the US flag in the dirt?

  • Matt

When Chuck Norris was a baby he ate his atheist parents!

  • Is it just me or is there a rainbow flag falling out of her jacket?

  • Claudia

And why is this person dragging the US flag in the dirt?

They purposefully do everything they possibly can to be as offensive and outrageous as possible. We’re talking about people who tried to go to protest the funerals of the little Amish schoolgirls who were massacred a few years back. Their hatefulness is not a side-effect, it is the point. Go to http://thetyee.ca/Life/2009/10/07/PreacherPhelps/ for the view of one of his estranged children. The entire family is psychotic, they’re essentially indoctrinated from birth to believe that the more they are hated, the more right they are.

Personally I think Fred Phelps is God’s gift (pardon the expression) to gay rights. They are like walking, talking, red herrings. Wherever they go they force people to choose between gays and them, and they are so hateful that people who might normally be conservative are driven to the pro-gay side out of sheer disgust for them.

  • Oh I can laugh at them. Because really, they’re just offensive little clowns. I feel like taking them seriously is akin to giving their message a tiny bit of credence, which I’m not interested in doing. Their message isn’t even worth seriously considering.

  • They should just hold up a “God hates everybody but me” sign.
That is basically what they believe.

  • Jagyr

I don’t know… I’ve known some gay guys who might be described as “beasts”. In a good way, that is. Rawr. 😉

  • ThatOtherGuy

Hah, anyone notice that they’re dragging the flag all around in the muck? I’m unsurprised.

  • Matt

Yes, we are beasts. She’s apparently been in Chicago on Memorial Day weekend.

  • TheRealistMom/Spamamander

Yep, good old Deuteronomy. Laying out the curses that shall come upon us for not following the word of the Invisible Sky Fairy dude.

28:53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
28:54 So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
28:55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
28:56 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
28:57 And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.

Pfft. Who needs to be locked in a siege to enjoy the Art of Infant Consumption?

  • @Yet Another Atheist:
I agree with you. I can’t laugh at anything related to those sickos in the WBC.

  • They call themselves patriots. . . yet the US Flag is dragged on the floor! A Nation’s Flag should never, ever touch the floor.

    Off with their heads!

  • Actually, I only eat Christian babies. They’re crunchy.

  • Fett101

    “They call themselves patriots.”

Do they? They picket the funerals of soldiers, carry signs saying “American is Doomed” and holding upside down flags.

  • Brandon

Does anyone else find it ironic that the sign says “Fags are beasts.” And supposedly the quote is from 2nd PETER? Just a little homosexual humor. 🙂

  • George

Well, we do have “bears,” “otters,” and “silver foxes.”

That was the most striking thing about that image for me too.

  • @Fett101

Interesting, that 2 Peter quote applies to “fags”, for sure. But also to those that “despise government”….

Picketing the funerals of soldiers telling people that “God hates America” because…

It seems implied that God hates America because of a war that the government sanctioned.

    The beasts!

  • David

Don’t you Americans have a thing about the flag touching the ground?

  • Fundie Troll

Creeps. And people think this is “fundamental” Christianity. More like fundamental stupidity.

  • Jodie

Read the two signs together — Do you think that’s why they don’t support gay adoption?

  • Christy Zachman

This ‘church’ and its members are horrible, rotten people who have been blessed by Satan to spread his hatred throughout the world. God is about love and honor, Satan is about hatred and what it stands for. Mr. Phelps has a special seat waiting for him when he dies and goes to sit at the right hand of Lucifer in Hell. Because he has spread so much of what Lucifer wants in the world. Hatred and stupidity. The children of this church are already cursed to roam throughout hell when they die because of their parents hatred. What a shame.

  • Jag

I thought growing up in a Christian home, we`re suspose to show love but the message I`m getting from all christians, HATE is the way to go, they practice it all the time. I always thought GOD was love but again, I was wrong, GOD is all about hating.
