Texas will have to cut some “State’s Rights” time off the curriculum to make room for this one! 😉

  • Kinda funny. But what’s REALLY funny are the “teach the controversy” shirts at (There was a banner ad on your page.)

    “And naturally I select you”
    “Behold the rise of man

I’m laughing so hard right now.

  • Funny or die? I vote die.
    Potential there but wasted.

  • I didn’t think the bit at the end about making fun of species extinction due to the hand of man was funny. But I liked the rest of it.

I’ve had a dislike for Dana Carvey ever since his execrable Master of Disguise. What a horrible film.

  • Jude

I showed it yesterday to my personal teenagers, who loved it and to 2 science teachers who also loved it. They wouldn’t show it in class, though, because of the lines about “his origin of species” and “the rise of man.”

I think this is atheist humor for atheists. Lots of Christians will misunderstand this as mockery of Darwin.

In any case it is dar–win! now.

  • Siamang

    Forgot to bring teh funny.

I think darwin is a pretty cool guy. Eh breaks dodo necks and doesn’t afraid of anything.

Yeah, although I get what they were playing at, this just failed to be funny for me. I don’t really find ham-fisted pop culture “parodies” inherently funny. The fact that they used the same Sherlock Holmes-esque narration of fight scenes twice really undercut it for me. I was also put off by the fact that although it was pretending to be a movie trailer, it was far too disorganized to pass as one– at least in my opinion.

And Dana Carvey’s affected character voice was just miserable.

I will admit, though, I snickered at the innuendos. I have no shame.

(Despite the critique, I’m really not a miserable, small-hearted Grinch out to ruin people’s fun! Honestly!)

    Meh, good idea, poor execution.

Well.. it’s the closest Dana Carvey’s been to funny in a while now. Not that that’s saying much.

The “rise of man” was good for a cheap laugh though.
