Server Switches

***Update***: The forums are back up and running!

As I’ve said before, I’m switching servers for the site (curse you all for visiting it so much). When that happens, there always are a few glitches that need to be worked out.

Right now, the Friendly Atheist Forums are down, but they will be back up ASAP.

If you see anything else not working, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Hopefully, we’ll be back up like normal before long.

Is this the right place to mention that the site has been taking over a full minute to load every time I’ve tried to access it since you first mentioned that there was a server change going on? It’s like ten years in internet time every time I try to click on an individual post.

  • Or that yesterday, every time I tried to log in the status bar kept saying it was looking for bradleebaker.net instead of friendly atheist.com.

  • Polly

The recent comments are not updating.
Also, what happened to those helpful HTML tag buttons? 🙁

  • Or that you keep kicking me off. I mean, I know I like to disrupt all the serious conversations by talking about boobs and Cheetos and things completely unrelated all the time, but c’mon! I’m still an un-believer….I’m part of the ‘club’….I’ve met Dawkins in real life…I belong here, dammit!!!
Please let me stay, if only to have someone to roll your eyes at.
What’s that? It just the server?
Okey dokey then…..please to disregard pathetic begging and pleading.

Can we get the nice html tool buttons in the comment window again, like blockquote, bold, emphasize, link and lookup, etc.? Those are very convenient and add to the expressiveness of our comments.

  • Let me try an experiment…

    this is a blockquote

    this is strong
This is a smiley face 🙂
    This is a link

If these work, you can at least manually type them in for now.

You should join, liz! We love new members, and we’ve got a great group of regulars, most of whom also comment on the blog.

May I third the request for the HTML buttons. I know it’s pathetic but I really don’t remember the codes half the time and am too lazy to look them up when I’m typing along. In particular, I really liked that block quote thing.

I know I’ve been whining all along with the problems. Also, how about one of those things you can click on to increase the font size. I’m getting old.

    @muggle,

If you’re using Windows Internet Explorer and you have a rollerball on your mouse, you can press the CTRL button and scroll “down” witht the mouse’s roller ball. That should magnify text on screen.

I’m doing it now and all the text on this page is huge…except, unfortunately, for what I’m typing inside this box.

The HTML tags will be back shortly, along with a better commenting system!

Actually, thanks, Polly, but there’s a doohickey down at the bottom of the screen that automatically enlarges by increments of 25.

I was clicking it twice to 150 but after Hemant started trying to improve things, it was jumping around on me for the first inch on the left side as I typed. I blamed his efforts but then another blog did it so it may be a glitch with my computer or my Roadrunner Service.

I was hoping it might be better if the site had one of those + type size signs some sites do but I don’t know if that will really help or not.

It’s not happening at 100% so I’m leaving it at that straining my 50+ eyes.

Yay! I needed good news tonight. I saw the doctor today and the news is not good. MRI results: I basically have a hole where I should have a knee.

Now I have to start the whole process with an orthopedic specialist and I know what they’re going to say. Not what I want to hear. I want a Hoveraround!
