I like to give credit where credit is due. And this Doritos Superbowl commercial created by the Mosaic megachurch is funny:
The Christian Post gives a strangely detailed blow-by-blow:
Mosaic’s 30-second commercial is called “Casket” and is about a man whose last wish is to be buried in “a giant casket with Doritos [chips].” The man, however, is only pretending to be dead and is shown enjoying Doritos chips in his coffin and watching a football game while his friends and family mourn during his funeral service.
It’s one of six finalists. The top three will get $1 million and will be shown in the superbowl. I’m torn… I like the ad, but do I want the megachurch getting the prizemoney?
It’s hilarious to me that the church is the one highlighting gluttony, sloth, deception, and mockery of religious ceremony. Hell, if an atheist made this ad I bet it would be soundly denounced by the faithful. As it is, I wonder how other both in the congregation and in other churches feel. I hope they take it as the joke it’s meant to be and appreciate it.
