Salman Rushdie won the first “Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Cultural Humanism” from Harvard University.
Lead singer of Bad Religion Greg Graffin won the second one last year.
This year, the award will be given to Joss Whedon, creator of Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
… The ceremony will take place on Friday April 10 at 8pm, in The Memorial Church in Harvard Yard. Preceding the presentation of the award, Mr. Whedon will give a short speech about his life and work as a Humanist. The award ceremony will be followed by a Q&A session with Mr. Whedon, as well as a signing opportunity in the church.
Tickets will be on sale soon.
If anyone wants to buy me a ticket… and maybe pay for my flight from Chicago to Cambridge… I’ll *totally* join you and buy you a cookie.
