Readers and Their Pictures with Celebrities

I asked for your pics with celebrities last week and you responded in droves. (I couldn’t even use all the submissions!)

Some of my favorite pics are after the jump.

Remy‘s wife Minna caught up with Teller! She was called to help them with one of their magic tricks, saved the prop paper, and had him sign it:

Chris Morse went to the same college as actor Kunal Nayyar, who plays Rajesh Koothrappali, PhD on The Big Bang Theory. The pic features Chris (middle) and his friend Morgan (right) with Kunal.

Paul Roe‘s grandfather Doug owned a race car and raced against actor James Garner (left).

Tyson met a famous Scientologist! (No, not that one. The other one.)

Or maybe it’s Will Smith who met the celebrity

Alexius met damn near every cast member of Heroes that wasn’t the Cheerleader.

My favorite of the bunch was the pic with actor David Anders (left). Because he once played Julian Sark on Alias. Which means he knows Jennifer Garner. Which brings me one step closer to bearing her next child.

Chris met actor Tim Roth (left), who starred in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.

Benjamin met Neil deGrasse Tyson, who signed a poster on Ben’s back. Since Ben is majoring in Astronomy/Physics, the message read, “To Benjamin, a future cosmic investigator” 🙂

Adam met (his namesake?) Mythbuster Adam Savage (left)!

Shalini met Richard Dawkins! I don’t know which one of them is the more hardcore atheist…

Fred met all sorts of celebrities, but this picture with PZ Myers just stands out to me… I don’t know why…

Jewel (bottom row, center) didn’t just get one celebrity. She got the whole freakin’ cast of Firefly.

Robin may win this unofficial contest hands down, though.

He got the Shatner (left).

Oh, no fair. I want to meet the whole darn cast of Firefly! All’s I’ve got is former Dallas Cowboys fullback Daryl Johnston, and I don’t even know where those pictures are… 🙁

  • Which means he knows Jennifer Garner. Which brings me one step closer to bearing her next child.

Umm, does this mean you have a uterus?

  • SASnSA

Not the whole cast. Looks like she’s missing one Gina Torres. But still an accomplishment none the less. And she holds her own well compared with the three remaining female cast members.

Mmm, Jewel Staite. I was so happy when she joined Stargate. 🙂

I forgot the pic of my wife, me and Janet JAckson. Oh well.

I’m so jealous of Jewel, I want to meet the cast of Firefly too. That is so cool!

  • William Fucking Shatner!?

I’m a bit suspicious of that Sears Portrait Studio shot of Jewel and the cast of Firefly. I’m not sure why, but it sets off my skeptical radar.

I also met Neil deGrasse Tyson, but sadly didn’t get a picture. After the lecture he was giving, my buddy asked him a sort of philosophical question on the nature of time (he’s a philosophy major). Aparently Tyson’s not the biggest fan of philosophy and kind of started ripping on my friend. Afterwards at the book signing, my friend decided to leave, so I got a book for him and had Tyson sign it. When I told him it was for ‘the kid who asked you about the philosophy of time’ question, he felt really bad and specially signed the book “Get a Lab!” when I assured him that my friend wouldn’t find it offensive. He’s very friendly and a very passionate speaker!

  • Yeah, sadly, Gina wasn’t there. She’s the only one I haven’t met at least once. Still, it rocked!

@Paul — it was at a convention (Flanvention 2005). The photo was my payment for putting together the souvenir booklet.

  • Shatner for the win!

I have a picture with James Callis and my husband has pictures of himself with about every nerd celebrity in the world.

  • I thought you wanted pictures of your readers with their celebrity friends. So I’m assuming Chris Morse wins.

Had I known it was just pictures with celebrities, I’d have submitted this picture of me getting beat up by George “The Animal” Steele.

I was at this hall of fame dinner while shooting a documentary. Earlier in the evening Steele had caught me sneaking video of him a few times. Supposedly he’s a very private person and didn’t want us shooting him even though we had permission to be there. He gave me quite a few dirty looks. My colleague took our camera at one point and I watched Steele pose for his official photo shoot with all the media that was there. After throwing a chair in my general direction, Steele looked at me and shouted, “You!” in is typical style and waved me on the stage. He made as though he was going to shake my hand so I gave him mine. He took my hand and raised it to his throat and acted as though I was choking him. The photographers and I loved it. That is, until Steele started to fight back. He put me in a headlock and tossed me to the ground. The last pictures of the series show me wincing in pain down on my knees with my head bent at an awkward angle, eyes being blinded by the flash of cameras.

    Yes, he got me good.

  • Alexius

I didn’t meet Hayden, and I’m not too fussed about it – now, the fact that I have so far failed three different attempts to meet Zachary Quinto (Sylar) is what bothers me! Everyone else from the cast that I’ve met so far has been really lovely in their own ways, though, even aside from Sendhil Ramamurthy’s more literal loveliness (he’s seriously the most gorgeous man ever; even prettier in person than on screen!).

:D! Does Tyson read your blog? Tyson is awesome! I became a fan when I saw him on Beauty and the Geek. Speaking of Tyson and Rubiks Cubes.. I envy any one who has met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I have a major geek-crush on him. 🙂

About two hours before that pic was taken, we were watching Dr. Tyson lecture on science at a church in Memphis, TN (which is not the most accepting place for science or non-belief), but he was well-received that night. He even explained evolutionary theory (rather well) to a questioner at the post-lecture reception. He was very friendly and happy to talk to everyone at said reception — even after an hour of recepting with only 5 or 6 of us remaining.
