Tomorrow (January 19th), comedienne and activist Kate Clinton, along with several others, will be engaging in a bit of superstition you may actually want to get behind.
They will be “Saging the White House” — from a distance, anyway. In essence, they will be gathering by the fountain in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. at 6:00 p.m. (ET) in order to get rid of the evil spirits from the Bush White House. It’s all in good fun. (I don’t think they’re actually serious about it.) The festivities include a rabbi, a comic, and a shaman.
Afterwards, I’m sure they’ll all walk into a bar.
Clinton discussed the event on The Rachel Maddow Show last night:
If you’re looking for more information, check out Clinton’s website — the information about the saging is toward the top of the page.
The legacy of George Bush is “Clean up on aisle 5” so join us in a joyous symbolic spectacle of cleansing to ready the White House for its new occupants. Bring cleaning products. Let’s have some fun.
