Sex with Snakes?

At the end of The Colbert Report segment with atheist lobbyist Lori Lipman Brown, Stephen Colbert made a reference to atheists having threeway sex with snakes.

Here’s what he was referring to — a scene that was cut from the final interview:

  • Well, many snakes seem to be trying to give me a really big hug. Now I know why; us heathens are obviously supposed to have sex with them (somehow).

Penn Jillette (Lori looks a bit like him with her new hair) doesn’t have a problem with people going at it with other species either. I’d consider it some sort of abuse unless the animals go at it on their own motive which would rule out penetrating pets.

Conservatives rule anything they find “ick” as immoral it doesn’t have anything to do with God’s laws usually. The more adverse they are to something the more likely they’re secretly engaged in it. Colbert’s persona obviously has a thing for the snakes.

It’s hugely “icky” to me, I don’t really want to know about it. Yet if there’s no harm there’s no qualm from me. Penn said something about women owning big dogs, lets just say I’m never going near a woman with such a dog from now on.

What is the Bible’s position on sex with snakes?

  • I don’t know, I think it’d have to be a really attractive snake who would promise to respect me in the morning.

  • In general, I’d object because an animal can’t give consent. My understanding is that animals don’t think of sex the way we do. It’s an instinct, not a show of affection. People who are into that thing are either

So that would be my “lodestone.” 🙂

without the editing and the audience laughter, it’s hard to distinguish colbert from an actual right-wing political pundit.

  • Michael: yes, the Mosaic law condemns bestiality (Leviticus 18:23; Leviticus 20:15,16).

Hint for future Colbert interviewees: if you’re a guest in the studio, expect light banter. If you’re being interviewed in your own office, or if your opinions probably differ from those of mainstream American democrats (i.e., the majority of people watching Stephen’s show), expect a roast!
