Lori Lipman Brown to Appear on The Colbert Report! August 18, 2008

Lori Lipman Brown to Appear on The Colbert Report!

I’m thrilled that I can finally share this news!

Lori Lipman Brown, director of the Secular Coalition for America, recently taped a segment with Stephen Colbert for his “Better Know a Lobbyist” segment!

AHHH! (Yep. I gleefully screamed as I typed that.)

You know Colbert talking to the “atheist lobby” is bound to be hilarious.

The segment is scheduled to air later this month — Colbert is off this week, but Lori’s segment should be on sometime the week after.

More updates as they come. We should know a day in advance when her piece will be aired. And after that happens, there will be an interview with Lori on this site about her experience being taped for the show!

Are you as excited as I am?!

Yes, I’m as excited as you are! I can’t wait to see how Colbert skewered Brown. I hope it was in a good way. 🙂

Definitely let us know when the episode airs so that we know when to download the episode.

  • I am SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! I’ve been saying for bloody ages that LLB should be on better know a lobbyist. In fact, I think I’ve been saying it since the segment first aired.

Does she know what she’s in for? Has she researched Colbert’s er… interviewing style (for want of a better term)? Will she be able to hold her own?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

  • OMFSM! I’m soooo excited about this! Definitely mention when this is on. I want to record it. 🙂

  • After getting two opportunities to hear Lori speak this summer, I took some time to read more about her work. She’s a principled, charismatic, and enthusiastic person. When all is said and done, she is also one of the people best poised to effect change on the behalf of nontheists.

  • This is exciting! Thanks for sharing the news.

The fighting atheists! I knew this would be too good for him to pass up.

Lori Lipman Brown is number one on the list of guests that guarantees that I’ll download a podcast. This time shes coming to a show I already watch. Woo!

  • The fighting atheists! I knew this would be too good for him to pass up.

Actually, the phrase he will be using is “The Fightin’ Heathens!” 🙂

  • In an entirely un related topic:

remember the poll at msnbc.com site about the “in god we trust” motto?

They are winning over! we need more votes!

Woohoo! Our email campaign worked, I guess. 😀

Lori will be fantastic on the Colbert Report. She’s able to roll with his “punches”, and it should be entertaining to see her do so.

Just so everyone knows, in real life Colbert is a religious person. In his interview on Fresh Air, he noted he was by far the most religious person on the Daily Show staff.

Not that this matters to this exciting segment, but a little additional context never hurts. I think he said he’s Catholic.
