Student Travel Grants to Atheists Alliance International Convention

Atheist Alliance International will be hosting its annual convention on the Queen Mary ship in Long Beach, California from September 25th – 28th.

The cost for student registration is $70 — with that, you’ll have access to the entire convention. Speakers include Lori Lipman Brown, PZ Myers, Michael Newdow, Michael Shermer, Jeremy Hall, and Mikey Weinstein.

However, with flights costing what they do, it all adds up. Especially for those of you in college…

The Secular Student Alliance doesn’t want you to miss out on this remarkable opportunity, though. If you’re a student member of the Secular Student Alliance, you can win a travel grant worth up to $200! The grants are made possible with the help of the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.

Grants are awarded on a rolling basis and the deadline is August 22nd. So apply early!

  • But will Hemant Mehta be there??

  • Hemant is working out the details 🙂

  • Bah, I’d love to go, but there’s no way I can miss two days of class that early in the school year (especially since one of the days I have a lab, which can’t be made up). Boo =( Don’t atheists know they should coordinate meetings with our breaks?

  • Jennifer — If it makes it any more worthwhile, Thursday is not really a major day. If I go, I’m planning to show up Friday night! As are many other students, I imagine. Most stuff will happen Friday night and all day Saturday.

  • Hmmmm, I’ll have to think about it. Even with flying I’d get in around midnight on Friday, and $200 doesn’t exactly cover much of a flight from Indy to California. Most likely I’ll just have to wait until something is held nearby.

Or I could just beg some of these speakers to come and talk at Purdue… *puppy eyes*

  • Why does it have to be so far away?
