Investigating Atheism

I’m not sure how informative Investigating Atheism is just yet.

The website has been put together by a group of academics and researchers at the faculty of Divinity at the University of Cambridge, and at the University of Oxford. The team have no set view on the subject, and aim to give a fully independent, but informed statement about this important subject.

At first glance, it does look objective, if not very thorough.

    Hmm, it’s late and I’m tired. I can’t tell if the site is unbiased or not. The sections that I read seem to do a lot of ‘they claim this and they claim that’ on both sides. I feel like it is biased, but I think it’s possible that I am biased.

    Maybe it’s just that the site brings up all the stereotypes that religious types hold against atheists, but never seems to address them.

    It didn’t seem too biased to me. I thought they tried to address it fairly, without slipping in judgmental asides; which they almost always do. *sigh* I guess if they’re investigating us and our history, we’re on our way to becoming another religion. Yikes….I might have to become an a-atheist 🙂

    Not a chance.

    Alister McGrath is involved, so it will be a “lying for jesus” fest right from the start.

    Note the inclusion of Antony Flew as an atheist, so that they can bring up the “used to be” tag loud, proud and often.

    I don’t know about that. They have a copy of Simon Blackburn’s “Religion and Respect,” which is pretty reasonable.
