You DO know the original number of the beast was actually 616, right?
Just out of curiosity, what was the original rationale for people believing that 616 or 666 had some special meaning? Does it come from scripture or some older pagan legend?
Anyway, congratulations on the 666 and of course for being in the top 10K and approaching the top 5K!
Very nice! And now I must go listen to some Iron Maiden.

Jeff, I think it has something to do with or is related to dematria (which I didn’t spell right in my last post). 666=syene, sorath 888=Jesus, olen 1480=Christ 1415=The God Apollo 360=Mithras 612=Zeus
The list goes on and on, but you can read more about dematria in Jesus Christ, Sun of God by David Fideler. Bob Price talks a little about dematria too, but he doesn’t go into as deeply as Fideler does. He talks about Pythagoras and alike to discuss this/these number systems.

Not to be picky, but it’s gematria.
And 616 is my area code.

And 616 is my area code.
Listen, I’m only going to serve one Dark Lord, so you and Hemant need to work this out, all right? I only have one soul to sell, after all….

Jeff, it’s in the Book of Revelation, Chapter 13. Basically the name of Nero and the title Caesar were converted to numeric values and added together or multiplied or something (I forget) to come up with 616 or 666, depending on which authority you accept. Revelation was written during a period when the early Christians were persecuted by the Roman empire so casting Nero Caesar, the Roman emperor as the Antichrist was a no-brainer, just like “Babylon”, ie, Rome, is cast as the City of Evil. Basically, Revelation is the work of a persecuted Christian imagining the worst possible end to the individuals oppressing him and his friends.
