The Student Action Diversity Committee at the Christian Rochester College is inviting its students to listen in on a conversation between atheists, a Wiccan, a Gnostic, and a Spiritualist on issues relating to Christianity and the church.
The event is called “LOST: A Candid Conversation with Those Outside the Church about Those Inside the Church.” (I’m not a fan of the title… no one is “lost” here.) But I am a fan of the idea. No one should be afraid of hearing an alternative viewpoint or five… and the fact that Christian students are taking the lead in inviting several non-Christians to talk about faith on their home turf says a lot about the community there.
Just look at this excerpt from their press release:
This is NOT a debate. While passionate debate has it’s place, we are choosing to view this event as a rare chance to better understand people who don’t necessarily think and believe like we do and see just how we are perceived by those outside the Church–the good, the bad, and the…well, you know.
The event will take place on Monday, November 12th from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the Rochester College Auditorium (PDF) in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
