Survivor Leslie Update

Tonight’s special moment from Survivor: China featuring Leslie Nease, the Christian radio talk show host:

Imagine the tears flowing as she says the following line:

It’s just hard because I don’t have a Bible…

Umm… You’re a Christian radio talk show host.

I’m guessing you know large parts of the Bible by heart.

At the very least, you understand the gist of it.

I like music. When I’m traveling sans iPod, I can still play the songs in my head.

I can still function and do everything I need to do without my music.

You can live without a physical Bible, too. It’s just temporary.

By the looks of things, you’re going to be voted off soon, anyway.

Whether or not she knows it by heart is not the point (and I bet some of the stories she does know might not be what she’s looking for at that time. While I’m not an evangelical (in the modern sense). The point is that she gets solace from the stories (and a slightly unhealthy devotion to the book itself. I understand her feelings on this. If you haven’t read proverbs or the psalms you might not understand what she’s looking for…thinking that it’s just a bunch of stories.

In any case, in past years the survivors have been allowed to bring a single personal possession in the past. Did they cut that out this year? Did she choose it for her personal possession? If so, why wasn’t her bible allowed?? They’ve had a strongly religious individual in the past and I think he did have his bible with him.
