*Deep breath*
Ok.
I’m back to normal.
Especially after reading what AdventureDad has to say. He’s from Sweden, the least religious country in the world.
You would never know people are unsure of their religious beliefs and/or if God exists in this country. Personally, I do believe in something but it’s difficult to define exactly what that is. There are also many aspects of religion that I don’t believe in and/or dislike. For our marriage in Mexico I converted from Protestant to Catholic which for me was like changing socks. No big deal.
I never did understand the changing of religions at marriage. Obviously, faith isn’t that important to one of you… so why bother.
… what do we teach our children? We want them to learn about different religions and do go to church together every now and then. Wife goes to church occasionally and does pray each night. Often with the children. She also believes in many things I’m highly skeptical of. We do have some very interesting discussions though. I find it fascinating to learn more about people’s religious opinions.
And that’s that. No arguing. Just a slight difference of opinion. The kids will learn to think for themselves.
Religion is rarely discussed here, people simply have little interest in religion and base decisions on logic, science, and common sense. I really appreciate that no one is trying to shove their beliefs down my throat. The people don’t care what you believe in, they look more at what kind of person you are. Doesn’t matter if you’re Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, or something else, do you stand for good things and are you a good human being?
That’s so… simple! It’s too easy, really. If you don’t attach a religious label to yourself, how is everyone going to know that they should dislike you?
I think it’s sad that many people have such negative opinions of atheists or non believing people. It’s funny when you look at the list of the ten least religious countries in the world. Atheist’s or non believers don’t have a good reputation but half those countries on the list are considered some of the finest countries on earth. With largely non believing people who are considered incredibly honest, ethical, and compassionate. Something doesn’t make sense.
Yep. Very sad. Makes no sense at all. Atheists are keenly aware of how our reputation has nothing to do with who most of us really are…
Meanwhile, Americans are too busy burying statues of St. Joseph to read what AdventureDad has to say.
I want to visit Sweden. They accept Evolution there. And I hear Swedish people are all attractive.
%&$*ing Denver.
