First, it was Charlene Cothran, editor of Venus Magazine.
Now, it’s Michael Glatze, founding editor of Young Gay America magazine.
Glatze was attracted to men at 14. He came out as gay when he was 20. Now, he’s 30 and declaring himself straight.
He wrote a piece about this for WorldNetDaily:
Homosexuality came easy to me, because I was already weak.
My mom died when I was 19. My father had died when I was 13. At an early age, I was already confused about who I was and how I felt about others.
Because when a loved one dies, the gay gene turns on.
What was it that finally made him reconsider his gayness? (Emphasis mine)
Knowing no one who I could approach with my questions and my doubts, I turned to God; I’d developed a growing relationship with God, thanks to a debilitating bout with intestinal cramps caused by the upset stomach-inducing behaviors I’d been engaged in.
Soon, I began to understand things I’d never known could possibly be real, such as the fact that I was leading a movement of sin and corruption – which is not to sound as though my discovery was based on dogma, because decidedly it was not.
So gay sex turned Glatze closer to God? That means Ted Haggard was really just performing his pastoral duties when he was engaging in sodomy with a male prostitute…
By the way, has anyone heard of Venus Magazine or Young Gay America before these “non-outings”? I haven’t. But they’re definitely getting some publicity now…
I’m not sure we can call him straight until he’s slept with a woman. The latest craze seems to be for “ex-gays” to just live a life of celibacy… since they’re still into same-sex partners.
Not Glatze, though. In one interview, he said he was “repulsed by the thoughts of sex with a man.”
One thing he wrote scares me:
Homosexuality allows us to avoid digging deeper, through superficiality and lust-inspired attractions – at least, as long as it remains “accepted” by law. As a result, countless miss out on their truest self, their God-given Christ-self.
He seems to be implying that homosexuality ought to be banned or limited in some way.
Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised. He did come out as straight on WorldNetDaily.
So he is not just a former gay. He is vehemently anti-gay.
You would think after all his years working with gay youth, he of all people would understand what it’s like to be a homosexual in America… hearing the anti-gay crap spewing out of the mouths of uninformed, hateful people. He must remember what it’s like hearing conservative Christians say that people like him were responsible for so much that is wrong in society.
Yet he follows the same path. That’s a pity. Not that I agree with what he says, but he could’ve had a golden opportunity to spread his message to a wider audience if he was more compassionate toward other gay people in his piece and chose a better vehicle (than WorldNetDaily) for his announcement.
