Keith Ellison

Keith Ellison, a Democrat from Minnesota’s 5th district, won his race for a House seat, making him the first Muslim to be elected to Congress.

Which should put a stop to anyone who says Muslims can’t get elected in America.

Still no openly atheist elected officials, though.

How long will it take before that happens? I must say, even without all the results in, I’m mildly optimistic it could happen. Not saying when. It won’t be soon. But people seemed more open-minded overall than they have been in the past.

Ben Franks, the supposed atheist from Texas, is currently losing his race for the seat on the 6th Court of Appeals… so close. Kind of.
