New Study September 11, 2006

Baylor University released the “American Piety in the 21st Century” study results.

Among the findings are:

— Only 4% of people believe that God favors one political party.

— 10.8% of us are unaffiliated with any religious group and 37.1% of that number do not believe in any God.

My favorite line:

“Those who have college degrees and make more than $100,000 a year tend toward a distant God or atheism.”

What worries me:

“[The study] found that about 41 percent believe Atlantis existed; 37 percent believe places can be haunted; and 52 percent believe that dreams can foretell the future. About 12 percent believe in astrology and psychics, and about 25 percent believe in UFOs.”
